Default How to make your own diffuser

So I think I ran across something about diffusers in this forum earlier today but I can't remember the thread (someone can link if they know what I'm talking about). Anywho, I read up on the physics behind them and found one elsewhere online for $10. Long story short, I'm pretty crafty and damn cheap so here's the DL on the diffuser that I just made in 5 minutes.

The idea with diffusers is that they make a bunch of tiny bubles instead of a few huge ones when you pull on a hookah, increasing (surprisingly) the surface area of smoke, thereby allowing greater filtration in the base. The one online is a little plastic piece with a butt-load of tiny holes that fits onto the end of a stem.

After some quick thinking, I discovered that the lid from a small bottle of extract that I got from PayLess (which is an awesome thing to add in hookahs) fits perfectly onto the end of my stem, which has a standard bolt-nutt thingy on the end of it.

So I grabbed a small nail and a hammer and punched a handful of holes into the lid and in about 5 minutes I had a diffuser that fit perfectly onto the stem and didn't make it harder to pull at all!

This ghetto diffuser ends up creating smoke that's just as thick if not thicker and certainly more flavorful (AF Eskandarani Apple FTW!). I even felt like it extended the length of the smoking too.

Here's a picture of the type of extract bottle I got the lid from, the lid/diffuser itself, and a bottlecap for size comparison. Try it out if you want and if you do, post up your thoughts!

hmm we were using a Heba diffuser on our Mya for a while, and we didn't really notice a HUGE difference...maybe we'll have to test this more thoroughly...but as it stands, we've seen more or less no reason to use it. (Also it doesn't fit on my KM, so I'd have to jerry-rig one like you did.)

I don't have sex with dead bodies...

But I was not Hi Jacking anything just showing you another way, although I think your way is more efficient and less time consuming.
